Dr. Charles Ferrin is the top eye doctor in Safford AZ and he owns and operates Desert Family Vision Center. He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry, Forest Grove, Oregon in 1990 and returned to the Gila Valley to continue the practice originally started by Dr. Vernon M. Roudebush in 1961.
Dr. Ferrin is State certified to prescribe diagnostic and therapeutic medications to treat viral and bacterial infections (such as pink eye), eye inflammations, glaucoma, pre- and post-operative ocular surgical care (including cataract, glaucoma, LASIK, retinal and eyelid surgeries), eye trauma, and the removal and management of ocular foreign bodies.
At our clinic we use technologically advanced diagnostic tools to aid in the detection and management of eye pathology including keratoconus, irregular corneal issues, dry eye diseases, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinal diseases.
Dr. Ferrin has completed extensive training in vision therapy to improve essential visual skills necessary for children and adults’ ability to read, learn and even pay attention for greater success in life. Strabismus (crossed eye), amblyopia (lazy eye), and traumatic brain injuries are treated with vision therapy.
We are a strong advocate for myopia control (reducing the progression of nearsightedness) by using various techniques including orthokeratology in which Dr. Ferrin has been certified since 2001. In addition to fitting contact lenses for healthy eyes with myopia (near sightedness), hyperopia (far sightedness), astigmatism and multifocal contacts for presbyopia, we have additional training in difficult to fit medically-necessary contact lenses for patients with keratoconus, irregular astigmatism, and refractive surgeries that had less than ideal results.
